Change of shareholders at Betonbau Group

01. Mär 2022

After more than 15 successful years as part of the SCHWENK Group, funds advised by capiton AG acquire a majority stake in the Betonbau Group retroactively as of 01.01.2021.

The two managing directors of the Betonbau Group, Mr. Volker Ernst and Mr. Thomas Sachers, will also participate in the company within the framework of a management buy-out and will continue to exercise their function as managing directors.

The new majority owner, Berlin-based capiton AG, is a German investment company that has been investing in high-growth, medium-sized companies in the German-speaking region for more than 30 years, supporting them professionally and with commitment in order to achieve long-term and sustainable corporate success. In doing so, capiton AG sees itself as a co-entrepreneur who supports the management in realizing the common vision and thus leading the Betonbau Group into a promising future.

Christoph Spors, Partner at capiton, expects great things: "We are pleased to be a partner of Betonbau, a true hidden champion with a strong technological footprint. Betonbau will be a key player in the energy transition, benefiting from the long-term growth in energy demand, which will come, for example, from the booming electromobility market and the replacement of fossil fuels with electrical energy. Betonbau's intelligent transformer stations will play a decisive role in the nationwide supply of households with conventional and decentralized green electricity."

Now the company is looking forward to the next stage of its history: "In recent years, together with our employees and a change in culture, we have succeeded in developing Betonbau into the clear market leader for turnkey technical buildings. We look forward to continuing this strong growth path through further geographic expansion and the development of new, high-growth segments as well as inorganic growth. With capiton we have found a strong financial partner to accelerate this growth strategy," said Volker Ernst and Thomas Sachers.
